Watching the new video for “White Knuckles” by OK Go tonight, I had an urge to go watch their brilliant last video “This Too Shall Pass” again. How they got the chain reaction perfect and everything to sync perfectly still blows my mind.
I know it is a pretty bold statement, but I think “This Too Shall Pass” is the most creative video ever (or at least that I’ve seen!).
Creating The Rube Goldberg Machine
The Rube Goldberg Machine in the video took about 6 months to build, it took 85 takes to film and the machine features 89 distinct interactions. If you’re curious how they made it, I recommend watching the TED Talk by Adam Sadowsky of Syyn Labs, where he talks about the making of the Rube Goldberg Machine for the OK Go video.
